New Projects

I have so many different projects that I want to get started on right away. I take after my mom in many ways and this is just one of them. I get started on one project, then I get another idea and have to start it like yesterday. Then it just progresses from there. Here are some of the projects I have started. I am making Avery (my daughter) tutus for each football team we cheer for. I coach volleyball at Manatee High, I have finished her tutu for that team, next will be Michigan, then the Steelers. And for myself I am spinning my own yarn to knit into a long vest/shrug for the cold months. I hope it will be done before it gets hot again.

I found a trunk a couple weeks ago, at a thrift store. It is metal, wood, and in terrible condition. I am going to sand it down and line the inside.

It looks a little like the one pictured below.

I also found two old dolls, Santa and an Elf. They are too cute! I am making a Christmas wreath and placing them in it.

And on top of all of that, I am working with a client to repurpose and redecorate 5 rooms of their home. I am feel so blessed and so excited about all of these projects and adventure. I will keep you updated and post picture as I get them done!

Plain and Fancy Fabric Market

I recently stared a business inside a business. It is called The Vintage Market at Plain and Fancy Fabric Market. The Vintage Market has unique finds, and furniture that I have repurposed into something new. This business quickly spun into repurposing and redecorating homes.

1950's steel and wooden desk.
This is a desk I found for 5 dollars at a thrift store.

I painted it pink for my daughter, and added some flowers.

Before I painted and added the flowers I decoupage the two back slats and the bottom of the desk with vintage 1960's material.

Now something I made.

One of my friends asked to make a dress for her daughters themed birthday party. In exchange we had a photo shoot with our girls.

I love to make these dresses, they are simple and easy to make your own style. The back of the muslin dress on the right, has a suspender look. The ribbon that runs threw the front cris-crosses in the back. I will post the pictures as soon as I get them.
The matching headbands are a blast to make, also its fun to watch them evolve.
This is my very first post, and most of the people in my life would say that it is about time. So...here we go!

DIY rug
I found this runner on pintrest, and fell head over heels.
It doesn't seem to hard to recreate, I cant wait to get started.

I believe that when it comes to your home don't play it too safe. A funky rug like the one above, is the perfect accent to make your home feel welcoming and whimsical.  If the colors are to youthful for your taste, simply use earth tones to make it more "grown up". The fun shapes and textures will keep it fun no matter the color pallet.
